This is the post where Tsubasa and Nachetanya have private threads leading up to Case 4/their deaths.

Aftermath of the meeting

[nachetanya]

[ Well once everyone is leaving the meeting, both for the positive discussion and for the whole... that which she ended up accidentally causing, Nachetanya has an almost literal spring in her step as she's talking out beside Tsubasa whenever she eventually does.

... She expects the other girl will have something to say to her.

She could be wrong, but. ]

[ What is there to say? There was a bit of helpful information they received about the Risen and the Transmitter's state this morning, and the survey was fairly lucrative and might serve as a good reference point, but overall, that was pretty much a disaster, wasn't it?

Tsubasa really doesn't have any complaints, not verbally, but judging by the way she's clutching at her head once everyone leaves, she could be better. ]

Do you remember how I said you have an effect on people?

[ She sounds like she wants to die. ]

[nachetanya]

[ She nods! She nods and when she responds, her voice is softer than usual: ]

I remember when you said that, yes.

[halleberry]

This is exactly the kind of thing I was referring to.

[ Seriously, what even was that. ]

[nachetanya]

[ She makes a hum of interest at that, but for her part, she's going to offer her a hand. Or try to, anyway ]

You aren't too uncomfortable, right? Should we get you some aspirin?

[halleberry]

I'll be fine. Thank you, Nachetanya.

[ She most certainly looks like she'd rather have her head crushed by a steamroller, but the way she says it sounds vaguely convincing. She doesn't complain about anything, and she's certainly not about to start now, but... ]

...If nothing else, I think we learned that our group has very interesting priorities.

[nachetanya]

[ She'll keep her hand there, just in case. But for her part, she remains close! She's laughing a little bit as well because, to her... well, it'd be silly for her to deny that wasn't fun for her to some extent. She's someone who likes to be the center of attention, it seems. ]

But if I effected them, it could be that I influenced Nozomi or Madison. In which case, I'm sorry for that.

[halleberry]

You may have affected them, in that you enabled it, but, they did it on their own, most certainly. And it wasn't even just Kaminashi-san and Madison-san....

[ Seriously, it turned into a whole calvary-- ]

And I really don't think you are.

[nachetanya]

[ She tilts her head a little, and you know what, she's going to reach out and actually brush the back of her hand against Tsubasa's arm ]

Things did get a little out of hand, didn't they? [ But she- ] You're right, I enjoy being at the center of attention like that, and I thought it was fun. But I am sorry that you don't feel good in the end of it.

Don't misunderstand me, it isn't as though I completely dislike it. It's good that our group has character, and I don't think it's a bad thing for our meetings to be lively. Compared to the morose atmosphere on Saturday, I much prefer gatherings like this.

[ Even if they're at her expense. She doesn't even shy away from her hand, even though she made no effort to take it before. But her palm shifts to the side of her head, just so she can look her in the face as they speak. ]

But they only got out of hand because you let them. That's why I don't think you're sorry. You knew that was going to happen.

[nachetanya]

Why would you think that, Tsubasa? Why would I want that?

[ She responds, evenly. With a smile on her face, her hand dusting down Tsubasa's arm to rest a little bit on the table. ]

[halleberry]

You just said it yourself. You like being at the center of attention. You also knew that I get flustered more easily in public, but the first thing you did when we got here was cling to my side like we were attached at the hip.

You wanted people to notice. I'm not saying it negatively, but it's a fact.

[nachetanya]

So my motivation was my own satisfaction? That makes it sound like I used you as a prop though, Tsubasa, so I'm not sure I like that!

[ ... But she sure is smiling, maybe even resisting giggling a little. ]

I also wanted just to touch you.

[halleberry]

Funny how that's different from saying, "Tsubasa, I would never do such a thing". You're rather popular, Nachetanya, and you were even the first to speak up at the meeting, so I think there's some credence to the possibility that you wanted to draw attention to us. You know I don't blush easily, and yet, you still made the effort, and I suppose in a way I'm to blame, for letting you affect me as well.

[ Dislikes: Showing weakness ]

Again, it's not a bad thing. I'm just making the statement.

[nachetanya]

If I said that, then I could never do that again. [ She responds, lightly. ] And if I really have an effect on people and if I'm really popular, that might happen again. I think that lying to you sounds much worse than teasing you a little bit, particularly if you keep telling me that it's not a bad thing.

[ She stands and offers Tsubasa a hand, ]

Would you like to go somewhere?

[halleberry]

That's fine. I'll be more prepared next time, when [ not if-- ] it does happen again. I'm just saying, if that's the case, and I'm not wrong, don't apologize to me. I'm not fond of insincere apologies.

[ Nor is she fond of being the center of attention. But there's probably no getting around that.

She takes her hand to get up, only because of her headache. ]

A walk would be nice, though.

[nachetanya]

Simply around? The art room? We don't have very many places to walk to right now.

[But once Tsubasa takes her hand, Nachetanya will squeeze it a little firmly, hopefully in a way which seems a little reassuring. Either way, time to walk back towards the hall. ]

I won't apologize, then... but... [ And her voice does go a little softer still, now: ] The reason I'm so excited is that I want you to like me more.

[halleberry]

That's fine by me.

[ She should have figured that she wasn't getting that hand back, but, it's not important. Nachetanya's hand on top, they start to move. ]

You have an interesting way of going about that. ...But that's why you're an interesting person, I suppose.

[nachetanya]

I can do more in private, of course... [ she tilts her head to the side. ] But you could also say that there's something to be said for allowing the others to know about my intent...

[ As they walk - her cheeks actually color. She lowers her gaze a little. ]

Though, I did not expect marriage to come up.

[halleberry]

Don't even think about it.

[ She looks like she wants to grip at her head again just at the mention of it. ]

To think it turned into an entire discussion...that was most certainly something I didn't anticipate. Though, in hindsight, I really should have prepared...

[nachetanya]

I didn't see it coming at all, both that Nozomi would bring it up, or that Corrin would step in on it... and then Rin gave us advice on what to do for dates...

[ The whole thing is pretty insane, tbh?? ]

In truth, I don't think the ministers of Piena would appreciate my marriage to you.

[ Oops she didn't drop it??? ]

[halleberry]

[ The more she thinks about it, the worse her headache becomes. ]

...Marriage isn't on the cards for me, regardless.

[ All things considered, that's probably for the best. ]

[nachetanya]

Because of your desire to travel?

[ She asks, gently, as they walk down the hall ]

[halleberry]

That's a part of it, yes. But even after my round trip is finished, I'm not quite sure if my opinion will change.

...The marriages I've seen in my life haven't quite given me a rose-colored sentiment of the practice.

[nachetanya]

[ Nachetanya hums at that. No, she can't blame the other girl for that, can she? ]

The reason I say the ministers wouldn't approve is that you nor I could produce an heir among the two of us. If I survive the battle against the Evil God, that'll be a key concern for Piena's future, once I'm named Queen.
